Romans 118:5
Verse 5, When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place.
The Psalmist who wrote this Psalm was King David a man who suffered so much but eventually became and achieve what God had destined him for in this life. A young David was minding his own business in the wilderness tending sheep and caring for his family business. When God reach out and anointed him to be King of his nation. And when this unction came upon David. His first test or had pressure was the present king tried numerous times to kill him, which amounted to nothing as God delivered him from the hand of the king all the time. He had to face a lot of his enemies been the opposing enemies of the nation he belongs to, many times as a young boy and with all of this occasion, God delivered him. Even as a young boy before he was anointed to be king, he had to fight lions and bears in the wilderness to keep the sheep he was tendering safe. And during all these situations the Lord delivered him from all of these pressing and dangerous situations.
As King David reflects on his life as he eventually became who God has called and determined him to be in this life. He concludes with certainty he is who he is because of the helping had of God. That all the dangerous and deadly situation that came his way and could have taken his life. Because of his God he has survived all of these situations and now sit as king of his nation, ruling God’s people. From the wilderness, he now sits as king and rules forever. And this is purely God’s help and no other person.
