The believer is not exempt.
Acts 14:22
Verse 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said.(NIV)
As identify in the previous post storms are not a pleasant occurrence and causes a lot of harm to those who go through storms even sometimes to the point of death. And can delay a person from living their full life and be fully engaged in the work the Lord has for them. And also it can also even cut a life short and as such case a person to not finish the work he or she was called to do. And finally, it generates general unhappiness and sorrow and because of these no one wants storms to come in their life.
As indicated above the Lord Jesus Christ as He spoke through His disciples in the verse above makes it clear as the believer journeys in this life as they are in fellowship with Him. Living their life through Him and also doing the work He has called every believer to do. Because of this commitment and task, there will arise may hardship in the believer life and here those hardships represent the storms of life. This means the believer is bound at all costs to enter and experiences many storms in this life. And this will be a frequent occurrence and the believer serves the Lord all the way till the end of their life. And that is how God has design the believer life in Christ.
And so in the verses above the apostles of God were encouraging the Christian brothers of this undeniable reality, in which they have to come to terms with and deal with these storms when it comes their way.
A prime example is Henry just became a believer and all of a sudden everything has broken loose on him. He has lost his job, lost income and cannot make his car payment so his car has been repossessed, he has called off his wedding and is barely making his rental payment. And he has been looking for a job for months upon months and is disappointment upon disappointment. And he just can’t come to terms to why he has been praying, doing everything right and still has not experience any breakthrough.
Henry situation is a typical scenario of what it means the believer is bound to suffer so many hardship even as they serve Christ faithfully. And when these things are happening God has not abandoned them but has to learn to realize it comes with their faith.
Today are you going through hardship as you continue to serve the Lord, do not quit on the Lord and also give up. Continue to hold firmly to your faith and run this race of life in Christ till the end as you gaze on the beauty of Christ.
