Verse 38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance.
Verse 39 “Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
As we analyze the character of Jesus Christ in His friend who has just passed, reveals just how much He loved His friend and care so much about him. And not only that He indicated that greater love is the one who laid them His life for His friends. This means every person who have believed in Jesus Christ is a friend of Christ and a friend that Christ truly cares about, just as He cared about Lazarus death.
The verses above reveal the uneasiness Christ was going through when He was at Lazarus house and has been directed to the tomb of Lazarus. The verses signaled how emotional Christ was at the funeral of Lazarus. That He was again deeply moved when He came to the tomb of His dead friend. And the deep move of Christ is an expression of His tremendous love for Lazarus His friend.
After reaching the tomb and still in severe sorrow and pain, He commanded the stone in the entrance to be remove. So that the people who doubt his sincere love and care for Lazarus and also His inability to heal Lazarus, will know that with God through Christ everything is possible.
The unfortunate thing is Martha, the deceased person sister although believe in Christ and His love for the family was failing to realize that God through Christ was about to show the benefit when He care and loves for a person. She stood as a stumbling block making excuses of why Christ should forget about Lazarus and let Him lay there and with that, the pain will still continue and also the questionability of His love will still be unsettled.
Today, do you still feel like Christ does not care for you as a believer. As seen in the scriptures as far as Lazarus was dead Christ kept grieving. As far as you as a believer is suffering, Christ will continue to grieve and be sorrowful because He care tremendous. Don’t put stumbling block and dwell in the sorrow because that will prevent Christ from bringing the healing you deserve. Don’t make excuses and doubt Christ care and help and trust in Him so He can bring the required deliverance. The believer should stop focusing on the magnitude of his or her problems and derail the power and ability of Christ. Mather was focusing on the lengthen of time Lazarus has dead, the odor that will bring shame and discomfort and this was causing her to shift from Christ and failing to see what Christ wanted to do for His friend and brother.
Believers equally should not focus on how long they have been addicted, the sickness have prevailed or the financials and relationship failures etc. which has happened in their lives and how often and amount that has happened. And rather focus and put their trust in Jesus Christ their Lord and His ability to make a way where there seems no way.
